Analysts expect Penn Gaming to improve the property with renovations, as well as the ability to draw players to it from regional casinos under the company’s umbrella. The standard Penn Gaming players club will replace the one used by Tropicana in 2016.

The company also owns the M Resort in the far south end of Las Vegas Blvd. It is the first Las Vegas Strip property owned by Penn Gaming. Tropicana Las Vegas was eventually acquired by Penn National Gaming in 2015. The property was acquired in bankruptcy separate from the other Tropicana resorts under what is now known as Tropicana Entertainment, which owns casinos under the same name in other markets including Atlantic City and Laughlin, NV. The Tropicana in Las Vegas is not related to any of the others. Tropicana Las Vegas opened on April 4, 1957. While Flamingo by name is older than both Tropicana and Riviera, there are no original buildings remaining at it.

It won that title when Riviera shuttered on May 4, 2015. Tropicana Las Vegas is the oldest casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
